You and a spectator each grab one of the two identical copies of the novel 1984 sitting on the table. You flick through your copy until she tells you to stop, and when she turns to that exact page in her own book, you read aloud the first sentence — bingo, it matches! Then, she calls out any random page number; you both turn to it and, surprise surprise, you accurately name the last word on your page, which she confirms matches hers. Rinse and repeat on another page, and just like that, she's convinced that these books are twins (but not the creepy kind).

Hand your book over to a second spectator and ask someone to shout out a page number. When they both open to that page, they'll be in for a right shocker: the book you were holding is now utterly blank!
