Inspired by the legendary David Copperfield and the classic Abbott's Bathing Beauty effect (thanks, Frederic Culpit), George Iglesias has crafted a delightful children's version following the success of "A Trip to Cancun." This one’s a seven-minute comedy extravaganza that’s bound to tickle funny bones of all ages!
EFFECT:
The magician picks a lucky kid from the audience and presents six cards adorned with various circus animals. The chosen one gets to pick a card, memorise their animal, and show it off to everyone—except the magician, of course. The card goes back in the pack and gets shuffled.
Now, the magician declares he will make the selected animal vanish and travel to a Magic Circus. With a wave of his hand over the cards, either the child or the magician reveals that the selected animal has completely disappeared!
Next up, our magician decides to use a bit of imagination to transport the child to this Magic Circus. He unveils a giant poster featuring a classic magician in a tuxedo, complete with a red bow tie and a top hat. But, there’s a twist—he’s holding a card in one hand, and it’s flipped over, so good luck seeing if it really made the trip!
No worries! The magician folds the poster and invites the kid to reach in and pull out the card, but surprise! The kid pulls out the magician's wand instead. "Oh no! You were meant to grab the card, not the wand!"
Now, the poster shows the magician missing his wand. No biggie! The magician gives it another go—this time asking the child to pull out the top hat. "Oh no! You were supposed to take out the card, not the magician's TOP HAT!"
The kids are roaring with laughter as they notice the magician’s hat is hiding a bunny—and he’s got a shiny bald head to boot!
In a fit of comedic chaos, the magician tries his luck and ends up pulling out a card as well, but—oops!—he also grabs a red cummerbund without realising. Cue the giggles as the kids point out his blunder. The magician quickly sets the cummerbund aside and asks the child to name their animal...
As soon as the animal is called, he flips the card around to reveal it’s the exact animal the child picked! Magic? More like comedy gold!
At the end of the performance, the kids are clamouring to peek inside the poster. When it’s revealed again, the magician’s trousers are down, exposing his comically funny underwear and a bunny. Cue the infectious laughter!
