ROYLE'S REAL WORLD A.C.A.A.N
The short video performance on this page captures precisely what your audience and participants will experience during your ACAAN presentation. The real kicker? It shows how they’ll remember the miracle and chat about it long after the show.
Just to clarify, the person in the video is an unsuspecting customer from the restaurant we filmed in, and you can see their genuine astonishment when the card they merely thought of lands at the randomly chosen number.
No pre-show work, no stooges (instant or otherwise), no secret cueing, memory gymnastics, or tricky sleight of hand involved. You can use any deck of cards, and yes, this can be performed completely impromptu with a borrowed, shuffled deck. Follow the instructions, and you’re set for a mind-blowing miracle every time.
One spectator just thinks of a card while another calls out any number from 1 to 52. The counting is done by an audience member (not you, the magician) to reach the chosen number. When the card at that number is turned over, it’s the exact card that was thought of, leaving jaws on the floor.
During the included 28 minutes of training videos, you’ll learn various ways to achieve this same outcome, along with a more traditional ACAAN where the card is revealed before counting down to the selected number.
ROBERT TEMPLE'S A.N.O.R.A.K.
The magician (that’s you) lays a face-up deck on the table, declaring that there’s a Holy Grail for magicians. One spectator names a number between one and fifty-two, while another picks a card from the deck.
The cards are counted down to the chosen number, and to the amazement of all, the selected card appears at that random number. Cue the applause and the lingering questions of “how did he pull that off?”
Then, you humorously point out that only a handful of performers can achieve this miracle, and you just happen to not be one of them!
Spectator A calls out a number, and Spectator B names a card. You then spread through the deck, find the named card, and pull it from the remaining cards. Turning the others face down reveals each one has a different number on the back, and you turn over the chosen card to show it has the selected number on the reverse!
Notes:
- No stacked deck (the cards can be shuffled by a spectator if you like).
- Only one deck of 52 cards is ever used.
- The trick resets instantly and is repeatable (perfect for table hopping).
- No difficult memory systems or additional gimmicks.
- No Rough & Smooth, thick, long cards, or similar nonsense.
- No pre-show work or stooges. Choices are genuinely free.
- The person's name or favorite animal could appear on the card instead.
- Countless variations are possible using this method and approach.
