Performers like Chuck Hickok and Richard Osterlind couldn’t get enough of it. This routine has graced stages around the globe, performed by the crème de la crème of mentalists!
Fast forward to today, and it’s back—better than ever, fully updated, and loaded with all the props you need to dive straight in (no faffing about required)!

EFFECTPicture this: a randomly selected audience member picks a banknote, which is then sealed in an envelope around their neck for the entire show (a little added pressure, eh?). Four placemats with a big X on the back are placed on stage, and four volunteers are invited to join in the fun. Each gets to choose where they stand behind a placemat.
A locked box with a combination dial sits prominently on the table throughout the performance. Each participant is given the chance to try and unlock the box by entering any combo they fancy. Spoiler alert: none will succeed.
Next up, four numbered envelopes (1 through 4) are presented. The spectator with the sealed envelope shuffles them face down for randomness. Each volunteer then freely picks an envelope, unveiling their chosen sequence. A bag containing four coloured, crumpled paper balls is shown, and each participant picks a ball without revealing its colour.
The tension rises as the spectator with the sealed envelope opens it to read aloud the final four digits of the banknote's serial number. And, lo and behold, these digits miraculously unlock the previously stubborn box!
Inside, the spectator discovers another envelope containing a written prediction.
The prediction details:The exact order in which the participants selected the numbered envelopes (e.g., 3-1-4-2).
A perfect description of the participant's attire who chose the blue paper ball (e.g., brown trousers, blue shirt, dark blue jumper).
The Final Revelation:The envelopes are opened to reveal cards with colourful images. As each participant lifts their placemat, behind each one is the exact image they’re holding, leading to a flawless match!
Finale:When the four images are flipped over, a customised message for the event is revealed, spelled out in perfect order.
