Bermuda Triangle by Quique Marduk

So, here’s the lowdown: this gem was dreamt up by Bob Friedhoffer and first graced the pages of "Invocation" magazine back in 1975. Bob’s a scientist by day and a part-time magician — talk about a fun combo! I had the pleasure of meeting him two decades ago and, lucky me, he gave me the thumbs up to bring his brainchild to the magic-loving masses.

Big shoutout to him for being such a legend!

Effect: The magician kicks things off with a yarn about the infamous Bermuda Triangle — you know, that dodgy bit of ocean between Fort Lauderdale, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda where things go missing faster than your socks in the wash.

After sharing a few spine-tingling tales of vanished planes and ships, our illusionist decides to put on a little “science show” to test the waters (pun intended).

Armed with a scrap of paper, he crafts a tiny boat and plonks it in a bowl of salt water, covering it with another bowl — all very above board and easy on the eyes.

After a suspenseful few seconds, he lifts the cover and reveals that the boat has pulled a vanishing act, transferring the water from one bowl to the other. And just when you think it’s all over, the boat pops back up, transformed into sand. Magic, right?
