Cardio feels a bit like a 'concept album' for card tricks – every routine is spot-on efficient, delivering a clear end result, all with a standard deck of cards. No gaffs, no gimmicks, just pure card magic. Grab any deck, and you’re off to the races!

Each of the seven tricks is a genuine 'do-er'. You’ll be itching to get out there and astonish your audience with these routines. In Liam Montier's signature style, the methods are simple and clear (within the grasp of most card handlers), making them a blast to perform.

Here’s Liam to give you a quick lowdown on the tricks you’ll master:

Back Hand Slap - This is the classic 'Slap' revelation, given a fresh coat of paint. You sneak a spectator's card into their own hand, then transform all their other cards into a royal flush! The aim was to breathe new life into a well-known trick (the slap revelation) and turbo-charge it into a full routine. One simple move sets everything up before your spectator even knows you’re in the game!

Twisted - Kicking off with a handling of 'Twisting The Aces' that I’m rather chuffed about—no displacements or discrepancies here, all four turn over as clean as a whistle. Then, bang! The Aces reveal two chosen cards in a way that’s delightfully unexpected! It’s a tad more technical than some of the others, but the moves are thoroughly justified, making it a brilliant one to build your confidence with some essential, albeit slightly trickier, techniques.

Reality Burp - When it comes to sheer effect, this one’s hard to top. A packet of cards changes entirely (first into a selection, then into a second selection, and then... KINGS!!!). There’s a lovely moment when they assume the two cards under the card box will be the selections, but surprise! There’s another cheeky transposition. It’s like card karate!

The Hof - I’ve played around with various handlings of the classic 'Hofzinser Ace Trick', but this is the one I adore the most. Framed as a packet trick, it combines clever ideas from Jack Parker and Roy Walton for a surprisingly impactful revelation and transposition. Plus, it fits perfectly into a set after you’ve produced four Aces, so it’s a doddle to integrate into your act.

The Other Thing - This one’s been a labour of love over the years, and I think you’ll love it too! You take a borrowed shuffled deck, show the four Kings spread throughout, and then—boom!—those Kings appear EVERYWHERE! One from your pocket, one from the table, one under the card box, and one INSIDE the card case! All with NO PREPARATION AND SIMPLE MOVES! Learn it, and I bet you’ll perform it.

Swing of Things - This easy routine uses a necklace as a pendulum and can be taken in any direction you fancy... serious magic, a touch of hippy weirdness, or just a bit of fun (including the horrendous joke I share!). Don’t underestimate it for its simplicity—the impact and clarity of the final reveal really packs a punch.

Pop Hoff - An unusual twist on Hofzinser’s Ace with a stunning visual production followed by a kind of reverse Blind Lemon Aces, where the Aces in your hand miraculously fuse to form the selection! It’s clean, quick, and efficient. You’ll have a whale of a time with this one!
