Fig. 25 Playing Cards is like a love letter to Erdnase and his legendary tome, Expert at the Card Table. Each deck comes wrapped in a design that’s basically a cute little homage to that classic book – it’s like carrying around a mini masterpiece.
These cards aren’t just pretty faces; they boast custom back designs splashed with METALLIC inks that shine brighter than your ego after a killer performance.
So, why the name Fig. 25?
S.W. Erdnase himself declared that the bottom deal is the holy grail of card tricks. That pivotal lesson is captured in illustration fig. 25, a real gem for any card enthusiast.
The Back Design
That fig. 25 illustration makes its grand entrance on the back design, elegantly surrounded by a floral motif and acorns – because who doesn't love a good acorn nodding to the book's original 1902 cover?
Card Stock and Finish
Crafted on top-tier Bee card stock, these cards are the same that casinos trust. You know, the stuff that’s been shuffled by more hands than a magician’s assistant at a stage show.
Traditional Cut
Using the "Traditional" cut method made legendary by Richard Turner, this deck is designed for pros who know the importance of precise handling and shuffling. It’s like giving your cards a VIP pass to the big leagues.
Custom Jokers and Ace of Spades
The Jokers? They sport designs that pull from that lovely floral back, paired with quotes from the book that have stood the test of time (naturally, one talks about the bottom deal’s crown jewel status).
As for the Ace of Spades, it’s got that classic look inspired by the Ace from the "Bicycle Spectrum Playing Deck," which, fun fact, doubles as the logo for Spectrum Playing Cards LLC. It also has the copyright info and company name laid out in the same typeface as the original Expert at the Card Table. Fancy, right?
The Faces
The original plan was to sprinkle illustrations by M.D. Smith across the deck, but then Mark Calabrese, an Erdnase lover and a sleight-of-hand wizard, had a lightbulb moment:
What if we cut card shapes straight from the book’s pages and printed them on EVERY card? Yeah, genius move!
The result? The most intricate and TRUE TRIBUTE DECK to Erdnase that’s ever hit the shelves!
Each page was scanned at a high resolution, artfully arranged one card at a time, then painstakingly lightened and colorized in a sepia tone to make those images pop just right.
So, if you’re looking for a deck that pays its respects while still being a blast to use, look no further!
