The coin clip has been around for over a century, gaining fame thanks to the legendary Slydini in the 1950s and 60s. It was the go-to gadget for vanishing (or lapping, for the posh) coins without a peep, sparing you the horror of them spilling everywhere. (Trust me, nothing says ‘amateur’ like rolling coins on the floor!)
Fast forward to the 1980s, and Christian Scherer decided the original Slydini Coin Clip needed a facelift. He made it easier to handle and just the right size for four half dollars, making your moves look a tad more natural (because who needs awkwardness in magic?).
This nifty little contraption is essentially a compact, tensioned piece of metal that grips your coins as if they were its long-lost children, letting you discreetly ditch them in one smooth motion. (Cue the “oohs” and “aahs”!)
The accompanying video tutorial is a veritable treasure trove of knowledge. It’s the most thorough guide ever put together on the subject, featuring both classic techniques and some hidden gems for close-up and stage performances. You’ll get the lowdown on: Coin Insertions (7 methods), Hand Steals (6 methods), Hand To Hand Toss, Lapping (4 methods), Almost Perfect Vanish, Sleeving (2 methods), Topit, NOW-U-IT Vanish, Pull (3 methods), Pendulum Principle/Upside-Down Topit (2 Methods), Baby Bottle Nipple, Silly Putty, and much more — you’ll be spoiled for choice!
This shiny new clip is crafted from stainless steel, comfortably housing four half dollars (and yes, you can tweak the tension for other coin stacks, because we’re accommodating like that). Plus, it’s got a couple of cleverly placed holes to team up with a pull or a loop — talk about versatility!
What’s in the box? A stainless-steel coin clip that measures around 1.5" x 1" x .25" inches (3.8cm x 2.5cm x 1cm) and access to a video tutorial packed with applications from Christian Scherer, Dr. Michael Rubinstein, John Cornelius, and Meir Yedid. A proper Meir Yedid Magic product, if I do say so myself!
