Effect The magician saunters onto the stage with a pristine white CD and a rather unassuming black box (which, let’s be honest, looks like it’s hiding something fabulous). The CD is popped into the box, and then, as if by some sort of wizardry, a ribbon in one of three splendid colours is threaded through the centre — and yes, the audience is already intrigued. The magician yanks the CD out of the box, and lo and behold, the CD has magically transformed to match the ribbon! (Cue gasps of astonishment!) But wait, there’s more! This dazzling display is repeated two more times with the remaining CDs and ribbons. By the time all three CDs have undergone their colour metamorphosis, the box is opened to prove it’s as empty as my fridge on a Sunday night!
