With just these three items, you’re ready to baffle the crowd!
Effect:
Show off the card—a blue beauty with a single hole smack in the centre of one side. Fold the banknote in half lengthwise.
Everything stays above board because you’re doing all this just inches from their noses.
Slide the card into the folded bill. Now, with the toothpick, pierce the note right through! Voila—the card is now locked inside the bill!
Hold it up, display both sides, mere centimetres from your audience! Invite a spectator to tug on the blue card—surprise! It won’t budge as long as the toothpick is doing its job.
Impossible? You’re kidding, right?
Now, here’s where it gets fun: explain that you can actually shift the hole and, by extension, the card! No sooner said than done!
Start easing the playing card to the right. Now, shift it to the left. The card appears to glide through the toothpick (seriously, it’s like magic)!
It’s simple—you say the hole moves, and that’s it!
At this point, remove the toothpick to reveal that the hole has shifted from the centre to a completely new position! Reinsert it, pop the blue card back in the middle, and remove it again to show it’s all back to square one.
Honestly, this illusion is so mind-boggling, your spectators will be pondering how on earth it’s possible for ages!
