The Echo Book Test has been my little secret for a few years now (and I’m not talking about the one time I tried to impress my mum).
Whenever I want to create a personal connection, pull off a book test that’s as easy as pie, and tug at the audience’s heartstrings, I reach for Echo. But hold your horses—this isn’t just another book test…
First things first, Echo is a proper book: anyone can read it without a hint of suspicion (yup, it’s even on Amazon). Behind the scenes, Echo cleverly employs a classic principle from Larry Becker (who graciously let me borrow it back in 2012), enabling a plethora of jaw-dropping effects. And the best part? It’s a doddle: zero sleight, zero memory, zero stooge, and it fits right in your pocket. (Seriously, it’s like the magic version of a Swiss Army knife.)
But more than just a book test, Echo is a whole series of them!
I’ve penned twelve different tomes, each diving into a unique domain: Tarot, meditation, hypnosis, astrology, dreams, numerology, and a few more. I’ll be rolling out a new title each month for a year (yep, it’s like a magic book subscription, but without the awkward delivery guy).
You get to pick the theme that vibes best with your performance. All versions allow you to perform the same effects, but the content naturally varies with the theme. Each book stands alone, each one is a little gem, and they all read like a normal book—think of them as self-help guides for the curious mind.
Each theme opens the door for a cracking conversation with your participant. You’ll then read their mind in a way that feels impossible and deeply personal, because let’s face it, everyone loves to talk about their favourite subject: themselves. Some spectators have even asked where they could buy the book, eager to keep the reading going!
The 80-page English instruction manual is a treasure trove: three complete effects, my exact script, presentation ideas, variations, a bonus effect, illustrations, video content, and a bit more (you know, just a casual over-delivery).

Each Echo book is about 200 pages, in English, paperback format (5.5 x 8.5", 13 x 21 cm), soft cover, glued binding, white paper.
