Federal Escape is the little package that packs a serious punch! This 7-foot canvas mail bag, accompanied by 2 padlocks and a solid steel bar, is inspected thoroughly by your audience. They even get the keys (no pressure, right?). You pop yourself into the bag, weave the bar through 16 sturdy metal grommets at the top, lock it all up with the padlocks, and then—boom—a curtain goes up. A few seconds later, you’re out!

Now, let’s have a cheeky comparison between our model, which first hit the scene in 1995, and the dodgy knock-offs from India.
LOCKS
Ours: We use Master Padlocks. They’re reliable, easy to use, and everyone recognises them.
Theirs: Those cheap imitations look more like toys than padlocks. You’ve got two different keys that need to be handled just right, and let’s be honest—trusting a spectator with that level of precision is a recipe for disaster. Get it wrong, and you’re stuck in a hot bag while everyone’s watching. Not ideal, eh?
BARS
Ours: Our custom steel bar is crafted by master artisans right here in the U.S. It’s got that strong, industrial vibe.
Theirs: Sure, it’s steel, but it’s all shiny and chromed, looking like it just came from a toy store. And good luck when the plating chips off after a few uses—talk about giving away the secret!
GROMMETS
Ours: We use 16 top-notch grommets, also made in the U.S. When locked, they’re so tight you can barely slip a finger through. They’re smooth, precision-made, and the right size for a quick exit.
Theirs: Only 8 grommets, and good luck trying to keep a hand from slipping through! They’re rough around the edges and can cause all sorts of hassle, like scratching the bar or worse—injuring someone. Not a fun time at a magic show!
BAG
Ours: Our bag is crafted from sturdy canvas, made right here in the U.S., with a gusseted bottom to keep tripping to a minimum. It’s the perfect height and width for most folks, and—bonus—it doesn’t smell!
Theirs: Who knows what you’ll get? Some of those bags are too narrow, and if they don’t have a gusseted bottom, you may just end up flat on your face. Plus, after a long boat journey from India, they can smell worse than last week’s leftovers. Not exactly an inviting prospect!
