Foresight by Devin Knight is now available as a PDF, and trust me, it won’t break the bank. You get all the detailed directions and a PDF of the chart. Just print it on cardstock, and you’re ready to leave your audience scratching their heads.
This effect kicks off like a light-hearted comedy bit but packs a punch that’ll knock their socks off at the end.
Effect:
The magician presents an envelope, claiming it holds a prediction. The spectator names any playing card, and the magician confidently declares that card is in the envelope. He pulls out an 8.5 x 11 inch picture showcasing the entire deck laid out. “Look, there’s your card right there!” You’ll get some chuckles, but the audience isn’t quite on the edge of their seats yet. So, you ask the first participant to think of a card from the picture—no forcing here. Then, a second spectator joins in, also thinking of a card from the same picture.
Here comes the jaw-dropper: the magician instantly reveals the first participant's thought-of card by making two astute comments about it—both spot on (you’re never wrong with this). You name the card so quickly it’ll make even seasoned magicians do a double take! Then, you casually point out that you’ve been sporting a CLEAR cardholder around your neck since the beginning, with a playing card clearly visible inside it.
Prefer a more subtle approach? Just clip a card to your coat pocket instead. You then turn to the second participant, asking for their card. They name it, and with absolutely NO SWITCHES, you flip the clear cardholder around to reveal the exact card they just mentioned—sealed inside and in full view the entire time. The back of the card is visible at all times, and it can be examined. No sneaky business here; it’s just you and the card. If you prefer, you can also use a jumbo card casually placed on your table from the get-go—no neck adornments necessary.
This takes the classic thought-of card routine and gives it a fresh twist. One of the most clever techniques you’ll come across, yet it’s a breeze to perform—no sleights involved.
Included is a PDF of an 8.5" x 11" gag picture that humorously looks like a spilled deck. And don’t worry, NO DUPLICATE CARDS are printed in that picture—every card is different! You’ll also get a smaller version for those street magic gigs.
