Let’s be honest, if you’re in the performance game, you know that a headline prediction is one of the BEST (yes, I said it) ways to snag some serious publicity. Tony Corinda nailed it in 13 Steps To Mentalism when he said, “the headline prediction almost always gets results in getting a story in print, because it is personal to the newspaper.” Every time Romhany rolls into a new town with his one-man show, he’s raking in FREE newspaper coverage by roping in a local celebrity and a local rag.
And if you’re angling for corporate gigs, this is a killer pitch; just tell them they’ll have a part in the show by receiving something that’ll be featured.

In this delightful eBook, Paul spills the beans on his version, which has been part of his professional act for over twenty years (no pressure, but that’s a lot of shows!). You’ll find step-by-step instructions and photos to ensure you know exactly how to set this up.

Effect: The magician sends a sealed envelope to the client a week before the show.
On show day, the client confirms it’s still sealed and hasn’t been touched (cue the gasps). The performer then presents three different daily newspapers, and a spectator gets to pick one. This spectator takes the newspaper and sits down, eagerly waiting whilst the show unfolds. For the grand finale, the spectator brings both the newspaper and the envelope on stage. They open it up to reveal a letter that not only predicts which paper they chose but also the headlines and certain outcomes from the show (now that’s what I call a reveal!).

BONUS - Cris Johnson shares his go-to Headline Prediction routine called, 'ConFab Headline Prediction.' This is the very same routine Cris performs in his corporate gigs, using headlines plucked straight from the daily papers chosen by the audience.

Effect: At the start of the show, a sealed FedEx envelope is handed to an audience member. Towards the end, several local newspapers are distributed, and at the right moment, the performer invites the audience to pick their favourite headlines, phrases, or even individual lines from articles. When the sealed FedEx envelope is opened, another sealed envelope is revealed, containing an index card that lists all the audience-selected material in as much detail as the performer fancies. Both versions are practical enough for any setting, whether it’s an intimate gathering or a full-blown stage show.

ANOTHER BONUS ROUTINE
Finally, Paul introduces a unique version that features a prediction rolled up inside a poster tube, which can be used for headline predictions or any other prediction effect you fancy. Paul and his wife have been using this on cruise ships for over twelve years, as well as for solo headline prediction routines. It’s a unique method that employs something most magicians have lying around, but Paul spins it in a way that’ll make you think twice about your own props.
