You’re about to show them the trick Houdini himself claimed as his favourite card trick!
It involves a vintage diary – and guess what? You’ve managed to snag one of Houdini's original private diaries.
This chap, fascinated by the occult, scribbled the name of a playing card next to every date, convinced that certain cards had special vibes with particular days.
The spectator calls out any date that means something special to them – a proper free choice, no pressure!
As you spread the deck face down, every card is blue-backed apart from one cheeky red-backed card that bears Houdini's signature on the back!
Now, the spectator flips to their chosen date and confirms that all the cards for that week are different. For the first time, they reveal the name of the card on that particular date.
And here’s the kicker: their chosen date coincides with the day Houdini's beloved dog passed away; the lone red card is revealed to be that very same card!
