HOUDINI'S HANDKERCHIEF is a cheeky little routine that tells the tale of how the great Houdini managed to slip away from two rather bemused police officers while all tied up and handcuffed. (Spoiler alert: it’s not just because he’s Houdini!)
As the story unfolds, you'll find yourself in for a delightful twist at the end. Houdini is represented by a cheeky red handkerchief, while the two baffled bobbies are symbolised by two blue handkerchiefs. Watch as they tie Houdini up tighter than your auntie's holiday turkey, only for him to make a miraculous escape — leaving the two blue handkerchiefs tied together in a rather compromising position.
The audience is then invited to check that those knots are as real as the confusion on the officers' faces (suspenseful, innit?).
This trick is a crowd-pleaser for kids' parties and family shows alike (because who wouldn’t want a bit of magic in their lives?).
It's a doddle to perform, and you'll end up squeaky clean, with spectators free to inspect the handkerchiefs without any dodgy business.
