Launched amidst the buzz of the Blackpool Magic Convention 2024, this nifty little gizmo, Illuminate, is here to light up your life (or at least your fingertips).
Remember the classic "Lights from Fingertips"? Well, forget that; with Illuminate, you're not just catching light — it pulses and flutters like a cheeky firefly (who knew you could have that much fun with a gimmick?).
Joseph Lee and Zio have been cooking this up since late 2022, with a side gig of helping magicians jazz up their acts with smooth light transitions. The real challenge? Miniaturising the electronics and getting the light to gradually brighten and dim just right. Over 10 prototypes later, they nailed the timing (talk about dedication!).
Illuminate comes in three delightful flavours:
Version 1 - Gradually brightens and then goes dark in a flash. It’s as intuitive as your mate's terrible jokes: activate the gimmick, and the light comes on; let go and poof — it's gone!
Version 2 - Instantly brightens, then fades like your enthusiasm for Monday mornings. Flick it on, and voilà! Instant glow. Release it, and it dims away (just like my patience).
Version 3 (the Swiss Army knife of versions) - Gradually brightens and dims, plus you can detach it from your hand and still let it shine. Yes, you heard right! Activate it, then let it go — it’ll keep glowing until you decide to dim it down. Talk about freedom!
