“Lights from Fingertips” has been a classic effect that magicians have loved for ages. But with the new Illuminate, you’re not just holding onto a light; you’re making it dance and flicker like a cheeky firefly!
Joseph Lee and Zio have been tinkering away since late 2022 to bring you this marvel. Before that, we’ve been helping magicians add some dazzle to their acts with smooth light transitions that’ll leave the audience wondering how you did it.
Now, let’s chat about the not-so-glamorous side of magic: the development process. We spent hours miniaturising the electronics and fine-tuning the light’s gradual brightening and dimming. Over 10 prototypes later, we finally nailed the timing (seriously, it was like waiting for a kettle to boil).
Each version of Illuminate is designed for easy use, so you can focus on your show, not on fiddling with gadgets. Here’s the rundown:
Version 1 - Brightens up and then goes dark faster than your mate after one too many pints. The operation is straightforward, just like the traditional TT Lights. Light brightens as you activate it, and a quick release sends it back to darkness.
Version 2 - Instantly brightens then gradually dims, perfect for when you want to make an entrance but not hang around for the exit. Flip the switch and watch it glow, then let it fade away as you walk off like a magician in a puff of smoke.
Version 3 (the Swiss Army knife of versions) - This one’s got a segmented switch that lets you gradually brighten or dim the light. Here’s the kicker: you can activate it and then detach the gimmick from your hand. It’ll keep glowing, so you can strike a pose (or just look cool) without the hassle. Press again, and it’ll ease out the light like a gentle whisper.
