INSANEwave is Dee Christopher's fresh twist on the classic BrainWave effect. You know the drill: a named card stands out as the only one in the deck with a different back design. But Dee aimed higher. He envisioned spreading a deck and showing off multiple cards with contrasting backs—and he actually pulled it off.
Here’s what he had in mind as he concocted this devious little gem:
I wanted this deck to feel normal, so spectators could handle it without second-guessing or I could seamlessly slide into other ESP or card effects.
I wanted the method to be adaptable for playing cards, ESP cards, or any creative photo or card combo.
No rough and smooth nonsense; I was after a setup that’s quick and straightforward.
I wanted it to be foolproof—because who has time for flops?
So, what’s the effect? Here it is:
A spectator gets a deck of ESP cards showcasing 5 sets of 5 symbols. They shuffle and casually name one symbol—let’s say they pick a circle.
Now, the performer spreads the deck face down, and voilà! Five cards reveal themselves with red backs in the blue deck, and guess what? Those are the five circle cards.
