Vortex Magic brings you KNOT UNEXPECTED by the one and only Jim Steinmeyer!

Now, if you don’t know Jim, he’s a bit of a legend in the magic world—creative genius, if you will. This trick came about after Doug Henning wowed audiences with the 'moving knot' on his TV special, prompting him to turn to Jim for a more practical solution for his touring act. And voilà! Knot Unexpected was born. It’s possibly the most practical and deceptive cut-and-restored rope effect you’ll find. Seriously, it’s like the Swiss Army knife of rope tricks.

Previous attempts at this effect never quite hit the mark. Some knives were too small to properly hold the rope, while others were cheap and cheerful (and not in a good way). But fear not! Vortex Magic has put in over two years of hard graft to create the ideal knife for this illusion. It looks and feels like a real knife (because it is) and will slice through the rope like a hot knife through butter. Now you can perform the moving knot and cut-and-restored rope with absolute confidence using any old piece of rope you fancy.

The Effect: You get two audience members to hold a length of rope, pick a spot somewhere near the middle (don’t ask them to think too hard, they’re probably still in shock), and then the magician OPENLY cuts the rope in half. After that, they tie the ends into a knot and, here’s the kicker, slide that knot along the rope like it’s on a magic conveyor belt. When it’s time, the magician unties the knot, leaving the audience with two uneven lengths of rope, utterly baffled. No dodgy ropes, no magnets, just pure Jim Steinmeyer brilliance!

Comes complete with the special knife and a handy download tutorial for those who like to get all technical.

CAUTION Cut Hazard: Sharp blade. Contact may result in injury. Always keep blades away from fingers and body. Handle with care. Keep out of reach of children.
