Effect:
Imagine this: a spectator shuffles the cards like they’re auditioning for a magic show of their own. You, the performer, then memorize the entire chaotic arrangement of cards in a matter of seconds—no sweat!
You deal the cards into 2 piles (or go wild with up to 10—because why not?), face up. While you're not looking (cue dramatic music), the spectators flip one card face down in each pile. Then, in a fit of card chaos, the piles are flipped and mixed together like a deck of cards at a magician’s convention. You take the deck under the table, casually ask which card they’re thinking of, and—boom!—all the other cards turn face down, leaving only the selected cards facing up. It looks like you’ve got a memory sharper than a tack, and they’ll be left scratching their heads in disbelief.
Oh, and did I mention? No marked cards, and you can totally do this with a borrowed deck. Easy peasy!
