FOILED MORTALIS MACHINA PLAYING CARDS
Welcome to the curious world of Mortalis Machina, where folks and gadgets collide in a deck of cards that’s anything but ordinary. This isn’t just any deck; it’s a beautifully crafted marvel that features the world’s first fully functional, mechanical gear box made entirely from paper. Yes, you read that right. The dynamic open-and-close mechanism fits snugly into a standard deck size, proving that good things come in surprisingly compact packages (kind of like your mate who always manages to snag the last pint).
DESIGNED BY THE PAPER GEAR COMPANY
Dreamed up and expertly crafted by us at The Paper Gear Company, the Iron (Bronze) and Cobalt (Blue) Editions boast a metallic finish and a paper-engineered gear box that’ll make your collection the envy of all (well, maybe not all, but you get the idea). With only 999 copies of each edition, you’ll want to grab yours before they disappear faster than your willpower at the buffet.
STANDARD & GILDED EDITIONS: IRON & COBALT
The gilded series shines with bronze for the Iron edition and silver for the Cobalt edition, channeling the delightful chaos of man versus machine. Inspired by steampunk aesthetics, the design is a feast for the eyes, featuring layers of Victorian flair, Baroque swirls, Gothic touches, and just a sprinkle of dark fantasy (because why not?).
The standard deck has the same nifty box, but without the gilding on the cards.
As for the cards themselves, they’re a harmonious blend of artistry and engineering, with mechanical elements like cogs and gears seamlessly woven into the design.
THE COURTS & JOKERS
Each court card and the jokers have undergone a rigorous design process (think less sweat, more genius). The outcome? Characters that practically leap off the cards. The jokers serve up a cheeky commentary on life—one’s clutching a heart (love, obviously), and the other’s hoarding coins and jewels (wealth, because who doesn’t want that?). Both are decked out in classic Harlequin attire, nodding to tradition while cheekily questioning what we really chase for happiness (spoiler: sometimes it’s just cake).

THE FOILED METALLIC GEAR BOX
Behold the Mortalis Machina "Gear Box," our pièce de résistance (French for ‘we’re very proud of this’). Crafted in-house at The Paper Gear Company, this tactile wonder didn’t just pop into existence; it was a product of a lot of trial, error, and a dash of craziness.
Opening this foiled box is like unwrapping a surprise—gears shift, elements move, and voilà, a little slice of mechanical magic appears. We’ve given the Iron edition a bronze foil and the Cobalt edition a silver foil for that extra visual dazzle. Constructed entirely from paper, it’s lightweight, durable, and eco-friendly (because saving the planet is also cool).
Despite its intricate design, this box is still compact—about the same size as your standard tuck box but with a level of craftsmanship that’ll have you admiring it every single time you pop it open.
LIMITED TO 999 COPIES
Thanks to the painstaking craftsmanship involved, each edition—Iron and Cobalt—is limited to just 999 copies. Each gear box is lovingly assembled by hand, making every single one a unique collector's gem (or just a really cool thing to show off).
