Alright, seasoned sorcerers, gather 'round! If you haven’t already heard of John Mendoza, where have you been hiding? This guy’s basically a walking encyclopedia of close-up magic—with his books and manuscripts sitting pretty on the shelves of every magician worth their salt. And let’s not kid ourselves; he’s not just putting out his own flair—he’s been the ghostwriter for legends like Don England, Chris Kenner, and Dan Fleshman. With over 35 years of close-up magic under his belt, it's about time he spills some of that juicy knowledge. In this treasure trove of downloadable goodness, he’s giving you the inside scoop on the tricks that have taken him globe-trotting. These are the crème de la crème of Mendoza magic, and now they can be part of your repertoire.
VOLUME 1
- DICE STACKING - Watch as John stacks four dice with a cup like it’s child’s play. But wait, it gets weirder—those dice start shrinking, massive dice pop into existence, and, oh yes, a drink appears from under that cup. Because why not?
- AMBITIOUS 1-2-3-4-5 - A spectator names a number between one and five, and you shuffle a deck with some cards face up and others face down. But here’s the kicker: when you reveal the spread, the four cards matching their number are the only ones facing the audience. Talk about a “Huh?” moment!
- ACE PRODUCTION - Simply cut a shuffled deck and boom—out come the four Aces! It’s the ultimate setup for your Ace routine, and it’s as easy as pie. Well, maybe easier, depending on your baking skills.
- COLLECTORS - Set aside the Aces, have three cards picked and lost in the deck, then place the Aces back on top. When you spread the deck, those three selections are snug in between the Aces. It’s like magic real estate—prime location!
- RED/BLACK SHUFFLE ROUTINE - A spectator deals cards into two piles, and somehow, the colors separate themselves. You’ll dazzle your audience with your card-handling finesse, as no matter how many times they shuffle, red and black stay loyal to their respective sides. It’s like watching a magic show with a side of color theory!
- CHOP CUP ROUTINE - Will the spectator guess if the ball is in your pocket or under the brass goblet? Spoiler: it doesn’t matter when two hefty balls show up out of the blue. Short, sweet, and just the right amount of misdirection.
- FEMALE - A spectator names a card, and every other card has a man’s name on the back. But wait for it—the chosen card has a woman’s name, and it just so happens to be the spectator’s name! Talk about a personal touch!
- ROUTINED POKER MENTAL - Four spectators think of a card in a Poker hand, and you nail their selections like a mind-reading maestro. It’s all in the mentalism, baby!
- MENDOZA CUPS AND BALLS - This classic routine gets the Mendoza magic upgrade, featuring sequences that will leave even the most seasoned Cups and Balls practitioners scratching their heads. It’s a reputation-making gem!
