About Our Collaborator:
SylBaak Hill is a delightfully peculiar secret garden conjured up by a Hong Kong indie art collective of the same name. Within this whimsical realm, the quirky inhabitants—a penguin, an owl, a black cat, a lobster, and a rather confused egg—tumble through the tangled vines of world culture, history, folklore, and the odd bit of flora and fauna.
Among their assorted creations, their collection of mechanical paper models and illustrations has snagged multiple design awards in Hong Kong and Europe (they're basically the cool kids of the art scene).
The Deck
Tree worship has been a big deal in many prehistoric religions, and it evolved into a vital piece of their mythologies. This deck of cards takes a gander at trees as the thread tying together Eastern and Western mythology, featuring everything from the Nordic world tree to the sacred Greek hollyhock and oak, plus the olive tree—because who doesn't love a good victory symbol? Japan's got its fair share of sacred trees too, with the Fusang tree being a sun goddess hotspot in Chinese mythology. Trees, folks, are basically the unsung heroes of world culture.
The Cards
The Mythic edition decks are NON-FOIL (so don’t expect any shiny distractions).
The forces of light dazzle on cards dressed in soft gold and ivory, with each suit representing a different faction (because why not stir the pot a bit?).
