SylBaak Hill is not just any garden; it’s an otherworldly hideaway crafted by a Hong Kong indie art collective that shares its name. Here, the permanent residents—a penguin, an owl, a black cat, a lobster, and an egg—have a jolly old time delving into world culture, history, folklore, and all things nature.
Among their eclectic creations, their mechanical paper models and illustrations have snagged multiple design awards across Hong Kong and Europe. Fancy that!
The DeckTree worship has been a big deal in prehistoric religions and has woven its way into mythologies, bless ’em. This deck connects Eastern and Western myth through trees—think Nordic world trees, the Greek hollyhock and oak, and the olive tree that’s all about victory. Japan’s got its share of sacred trees, and let’s not forget the Fusang tree in Chinese mythology, which is linked to the sun goddess. Trees? They’re basically the unsung heroes of world culture.
