Here's the deal: you hand over the rubber band for a good old examination while you sweet-talk a ring out of an audience member. They grab both the rubber band and the ring (which appear to be very much separate), then they close their hand like they're hiding a secret. When they open it again, poof! The ring is now delightfully tangled with the rubber band. And guess what? This can happen more than once! It’s a visual feast!
