The new "Rings and Ropes Mystery" by Philippe de Perthuis
"Incredible! This is THE method. (I wish I had found it.)"
- Gaetan Bloom
Completely revamped on a technical level, this classic transforms into a sketch that’s all about participation and unexpected twists.
Effect:
So, you’ve got some borrowed items (think watches, bracelets, finger rings) that you thread onto two ropes. These ropes then go through the sleeves of a jacket—also borrowed, because why not? Two spectators hold the ends of the ropes, and yet, you somehow manage to free the items one by one, jacket and all.
This is the classic Rings and Ropes Mystery, but the method? It’s something else entirely.
The included gimmick gives you total freedom, and everything can be inspected at both the start and the finish. Seriously, it’s like magic but with a side of sass.
Audience involvement, a sprinkle of humour, and easy to perform—what you’ve got here is a solid 10 to 15-minute sketch that’ll keep 'em guessing.
Strengths:
- Easy to do
- No angle issues (even when you're surrounded by your mates)
- Absolutely baffling
- Interactive fun
- Bilingual French/English instructions (online video, fancy that!)
- Gimmick + ropes included
