Effect:
Hand your spectator a regular deck of cards to mix. Meanwhile, make sure everyone sees the envelope just chilling on the table — that’s your prediction envelope!
Spread the deck out in front of them...
Grab a 10€ note, for instance. Unfold it and casually run it along the cards, inviting your spectator to shout “STOP!” whenever they fancy—no pressure, no tricks.
They can take as long as they like!
When they stop, simply slide the note into the deck. Now, explain that if your prediction’s a dud, they score the €10 note!
Are you really about to lose money every time? (Spoiler: No.)
Go through the cards one by one until you hit the €10 note. Grab the card right after it and plonk it face down on the table.
Now, invite your spectator to unveil the prediction in the envelope themselves...
Inside the envelope, there’s a card: your prediction.
And the card on the table? The spectator’s card.
Flip them over at the same time!
This is utterly BONKERS! The spectator’s card matches your prediction!
