The trick everyone’s raving about is QUARTET by Mark Mason!
After years of tinkering (and probably a few late nights), it’s finally here and ready to dazzle.
So, you take two cards from a nifty little wallet. One’s got a red back, the other’s blue. Both cards are folded into quarters (because why not?). NOTHING IS ADDED or STOLEN AWAY. You’re just FOLDING THE SAME TWO CARDS. Now, pop them behind your back and give them a good shuffle. The spectator has to guess which hand holds the RED CARD and which one’s got the BLUE CARD. Spoiler alert: it’s a total shot in the dark as both cards are, well, out of sight.
To spice things up, you decide to make it easier. You place both folded cards in your left hand. Then, voilà! You openly pull out the red card. No more guessing; they can see it. And without any cover, those cards VISUALLY CHANGE PLACES. Seriously, it’s a sight to behold (trust me).
And because you’re a generous magician, you’re keen to show off again. This time, you whip out the blue folded card. Guess what? They switch places again!
Now, you’re feeling brave and offer to reveal the secret. Out comes the red card, leaving the blue card cozied up in your closed hand. A simple touch of the red card on the back of your hand, and BAM! The two cards have switched places.
But wait, there’s more! You cheekily say, “I obviously can’t show you both cards at once.” As you say this, you reveal the two cards, red in one hand and blue in the other. Now it’s just impossible, right? You’re showing both cards, and yet they VISUALLY CHANGE PLACES right in front of their eyes!
The two folded cards are shown from every angle, unfolded, displayed front and back, and then tucked away neatly in the wallet, reset and ready for your next performance.
No flaps, no magnets, just two cards. Nothing added or stolen.
