This trick is entirely built on Mr. Pearl's original brainwave, "Lumber by Mr. Pearl," still lurking at your favourite dealer.
Picture this: a well-shuffled deck of cards is on display, and a coin makes its grand entrance. This isn’t just any coin; it’s a "talisman," granting the holder a rather special "insight" (no, it won't help you in the pub quiz).
Next, we introduce some red and black chips – because what's a magic trick without a bit of colour? Two "marker" chips are placed down, one on each side like tiny sentinels.
Now, the cards are shown face-down, and your spectator gets to channel their inner psychic. Is the card red or black? They place it under the corresponding chip, resulting in two neat piles of cards, each with its own chip (they're basically VIPs now).
But here’s where it gets really wild: the "talisman" gets handed to a second spectator, and you do it all over again. Now, for the grand reveal: under the black chips, only black cards appear, and under the red chips, you guessed it, only red cards! (I'd say it's magic, but we all know it’s just good planning.)
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the chips have numbers on them: 13 for the black ones and 17 for the red. Count the black cards... lo and behold, there are 13! Count the red cards... shocker, 17! And remember, these cards were picked by the spectators. Or was it the "talisman"? (Dun dun dun!)
This version of "Out of this World" is nothing short of incredible.
