The Linking Finger Rings is, without a doubt, one of magic's all-time greats. Brought to life by the brilliant Persi Diaconis back in the swinging sixties and later marketed by Richard Himber, it’s one of those rare gems that truly captivates audiences:
Imagine this: three rings are borrowed from the audience. The magician links them into a dazzling chain of three, then—like a pro—unlinks them and hands them back to their rightful owners.
What makes this trick a stunner is that everyone in the audience can confirm their ring was linked with the others (no sleight of hand here, mate!).
Over the years, some clever chaps have tinkered away on gimmicks for this classic, but not all of them were actually made for performing The Linking Finger Rings properly (shocking, I know!).
Enter David Regal's preferred gimmick, included in this set. It’s designed specifically for this effect, giving you exactly what you want in a gimmick:
- No unnecessary movements (because who needs that?)
- Instant orientation knowledge (no more guessing!)
- Complete silence (yes, that’s right—no clanking about)
- One-hand operation (because juggling is for clowns)
Regal's unique gimmick nails all of the above. In a routine often marred by excess fiddling, this one’s as smooth as a well-oiled machine.
So, what’s new about this release?
First: Quality. A new manufacturer (the sort you can actually be proud of) has produced rings that’ll make you want to show them off.
Second: Key improvements.
- The rings aren't just gold-plated; they've been through an enamelling process that darkens the engraved areas, making it a doddle to know how to orient the gimmick in any performance.
- The Regal design with magnetic closure has been completely reengineered for durability (no more dodgy gimmicks breaking at the worst possible moment).
- The "work area" of the gimmick has been upgraded and expanded, making handling a breeze.
Third: The price. Regal gold-plated sets have been known to set you back around £300 for yonks. Thanks to the new manufacturer’s precision, we’ve managed to bring this set down to £195. The set includes:
- Regal's new-design Himber gimmick.
- A matching un-gimmicked ring.
- A matching locking ring (classic method, of course).
- Gimmicks to perform the jaw-dropping Koran climax where two rings hang from a pencil, linked, and one visibly unlinks, dropping right into your palm. And yes, the rings go back to their owners without any funny business.
- A pencil and video instruction (because we all need a little guidance).
The Regal routine only requires one gimmick, with the other rings included to complete the set—so you can perform any version of The Linking Finger Rings you fancy.
In summary, this is a delightful set of props for performing one of the finest effects in magic. Grab them, and make your audience wonder how on earth you did that!
