The mentalist kicks things off with: "Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? Picture yourselves back in primary school." He brandishes an envelope and places it where everyone can see it (so no funny business). Then, to one brave spectator, he says: "Imagine you’re just six years old, sat in class. The teacher’s busy scribbling on the blackboard: 2 + 2 =. She turns to you and asks for the answer. The pressure’s on! You stand up, your mates are all watching, and you grab the chalk but—oh no!—you write a different number, a two-digit one! Keep that number to yourself and jot it down." The mentalist hands over a pad and pen. After the spectator writes their number, they tear out the page and keep it under wraps.
Next, our mentalist buddy shifts gears and reminisces about doodling on the blackboard in school. He reveals that the pad is filled with various sketches and invites another spectator to pick one without spilling the beans. They focus on a drawing and imagine themselves recreating it with a piece of chalk.
Then comes the grand reveal! The mentalist grabs the envelope that’s been in plain sight the whole time and asks everyone to finally announce their chosen number and drawing. Let’s say they say “43” and “a boat”.
"Picasso said 'Everything you can imagine is real'", the performer dramatically extracts a slate from the envelope and shows that he has written exactly "2 + 2 = 43" alongside a big old drawing of a boat!
