Picture it: the year is 1815, and the oceans are still a great big mystery waiting to be cracked open. Enter Scrimshaw Sam, captain of “The Sea Serpent” — a pirate whose plunder was overshadowed by his rather quirky pastime.
Now, Sam wasn’t one for keeping a tedious logbook (who has the time?). No, he preferred a knife with handles made from smoothed, bleached whalebone, and a razor-sharp awl crafted from a broken dagger. This was his canvas for etching the tales of his escapades. This fine art, known as scrimshaw, was his most treasured possession (aside from maybe his parrot, but that’s a whole other story).
What you’ll receive is a genuine bone-handled pocket knife, complete with a snazzy engraved leather slip case. There’s also a handy instruction sheet to help you spin the yarn, plus a link to some online guidance (because let’s face it, we all need a little help now and then).
