The Design Process

Initially, we stuck to the usual electronic impression pad formula: slap a board and chip in a clipboard, job done. But one day, a post-it note chilling on a desk gave us a lightbulb moment—why not embed the chip right into the notepad? This would make it the holy grail of close-up synchronous impression pads.

With that spark of genius, we dove into a series of experiments to bring our vision to life. We quickly realised it shouldn’t be tied down to a fixed shell. Nope, it should be versatile and totally customisable, giving users the freedom to make it their own.

1. Customisable External Housing

The PITATA Smart Memo Pad comes with a nifty twist—there’s no fixed outer housing. Its compact electronic board and chip are just 6.5cm x 9cm x 0.5cm, about the size and thickness of a deck of cards, so hiding it is a piece of cake. Here are some cheeky suggestions:

Memo Pad: The unit comes with a hollow memo pad. Just pop the electronic board inside, and it’ll look like any old notepad. It’s got 45 sheets, which means you can perform around 40 times (the last 5 sheets are just there for show).

Playing Card Tuck Box: With a little tinkering, you can slide the Memo Pad into a playing card tuck box. Jot down your secrets on a Post-it note or index card and stick it on the box.

Wallet Card Case: For those ‘surprise’ moments, slip the unit into a wallet or business card holder, using your own business cards to jot down info.
