Meet The BIG Prediction Writer by Robert Malissa, the genius behind Philly Magic Tours!

A classic mentalism concept, but this one’s been supercharged and polished to perfection!

The Effect

Gather a group and let them call out digits from 0 to 9. You jot them down on a whiteboard using a red or black dry erase marker as they shout them out (the louder, the better). Meanwhile, there’s a manila envelope clipped to the back of the board, completely visible the entire time. (No sneaky hidden tricks here!)

You detach the envelope, whip the whiteboard around to confirm the numbers match, and then, with all the flair of a seasoned magician, you pull out a single 6" x 4" index card from the envelope. Turn it over, and voilà! Written in large, bold numbers with black crayon is the correct prediction—a staggering 1 in 10,000 chance! If real magic existed, this is what it would look like (minus the rabbits, of course).

This clever system can predict answers to any question posed by your audience. It’s especially fab for small words, names, or numbers. The only limit? Your imagination (and maybe the pub closing time).

Key points:

  • No stooges—nobody’s in on it!
  • No electrical mishaps to worry about; it’s all analog magic.
  • Your audience can see the prediction from a distance, thanks to the bold numbers on the index card.
  • Black crayon does the trick on the card in the envelope.
  • Choose between red or black dry erase markers—your call!
  • Easy to master with a smidge of practice.
  • This has been tried and tested in countless performances.
  • Prepare to leave your audience in a state of shock!
What's included:
  • Everything you need—no crafting skills required!
  • 9" x 12" dry erase whiteboard (sturdy fibre board, not flimsy cardboard).
  • 2 dry erase markers—one red, one black.
  • 2 clever gimmicks.
  • 1 manila envelope to keep it all together.
  • About 20, 6 x 4 index cards to kickstart your journey (you’ll burn through one each performance).
  • 1 spring clip to hold the envelope in place.
Why this exists:

Robert Malissa runs "The Great Philadelphia Comedy Magic Walking Tour". He needed an engaging audience participation trick for a bustling plaza. He throws out a trivia question to the crowd, and those who answer correctly take a giant step forward. After a couple more questions, he counts the number of people still in the front row, which becomes the basis for a four-digit number that matches the prediction in the envelope, which has been in plain sight all along (no smoke and mirrors, just good fun!).

This is a reliable routine that’s been polished through hundreds of performances.
