I’ve got a little secret, and let me tell you, it’s been locked away for over two decades. So hush-hush, in fact, that I’ve only revealed it to one poor soul. Seriously, I’ve kept it so quiet that it’s practically a magic crime. After all these years, I’ve been pondering whether to toss it out into the wild (why not share the love, eh?) because I reckon a lot of you clever folks could use this little gem. It’s quite practical, and while I’ve only used it for two specific things, I’m itching to see how you’ll spin it once you get your mitts on it!
So, what’s the big reveal?
Well, it’s a modest booklet. But remember, it’s not the size that matters, it’s what’s jam-packed inside.
This little beauty outlines a sneaky manoeuvre I stumbled upon by chance ages ago, and I’ve polished it into a masterpiece of subtlety and deception.
Over the years, I’ve avoided performing this around fellow magicians and mentalists (don’t ask me why; probably just being a bit secretive). But looking back, it’s a bit silly since the move is practically invisible. Those guys wouldn’t have stood a chance anyway. I can tell you that on the rare occasions I did let it slip in front of other performers, I was met with bewildered looks that could make a cat laugh.
In short, I had them completely bamboozled.
Part of the magic was that I was using a device they already had and thought they understood. And yet, I pulled the wool over their eyes. What they witnessed wasn’t supposed to be possible with that device, and yet there it was, right in front of them—like a rabbit out of a hat!
Now, I’m not here to fool my fellow magicians; that’s just a lovely bonus. My aim is to entertain and leave ordinary folk scratching their heads in disbelief. But trust me when I say, this will fool everyone—including the magicians—so thoroughly it’s downright satisfying.
Alright, I can feel some of you getting a bit twitchy with anticipation, so let’s get to it. Grab your Sight Unseen Case and an old playing card. Go on, I’ll wait. If you don’t have an SUC, you’re about to give yourself a right kicking (seriously, what are you playing at?). And just so you know, this won’t work with any of those hybrid wallets that have popped up over the years.
This only works with the SUC.
Clear out everything from your SUC. Fold that playing card into quarters and stash it in a pocket of your SUC, leaving it peeking out so you can see it when the case is open. Close the case and plonk it on the table.
Now, here’s where the fun begins. Take a deck of cards (yep, imaginary this time) and shuffle them like your life depends on it. Get someone to pick a card. Have them sign it. Shuffle it back in. Make your mystical gestures (the jazz hands are optional). Now, open your SUC that’s just chilling on the table, showing the card where you left it. At this point, the spectator pulls it out and unfolds it; lo and behold, it’s their signed card. That’s what you’re looking at.
That’s just one way to use it, and it’s a regular in my close-up routine.
The other scenario? Oh, just a little mentalism magic. I take a business card, scribble something on the back, fold it, and pop it in my SUC, just like before. Close the case and ask my helper to name their first childhood pet. They name it (no, I don’t have a crystal ball). When I open the case, there’s my folded business card, right where it was. They pull it out, open it, and read the back. Surprise! It has the name of their first pet written on it. Cue tears of joy and a standing ovation.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The possibilities are practically limitless.
Enough chit-chat, let me introduce you to...
The Master Move by Mark Strivings
If you own a Sight Unseen Case, then you absolutely must learn ‘The Master Move’. In this slim but oh-so-packed volume, you’ll discover the secret to a manoeuvre that allows for some seriously astonishing miracles. As you’ve read, this is top-notch stuff. You’ll grasp the basics in about five minutes, but the memories you create will last a lifetime.
In this beautifully illustrated volume, you’ll learn how to pull off miracles like those I described, plus you’ll be armed with the creativity to conjure up endless other impossibilities. Here are a few key points to remember...
- This is angle proof if you do it right (and I know you will)
- Reset time can be as quick as two seconds, depending on your routine
- The manoeuvre itself is a piece of cake
- This works with both models of the Sight Unseen Case, original or Generation II
- This does not work with any other wallet or business card case apart from the SUC
- You can learn the basics in less than five minutes (no, really)
- "The Master Move" is highly adaptable, opening up endless scenarios like those outlined above
- The spectator removes the final revelation themselves (talk about dramatic flair)
- Both sides of the SUC can be shown before, during, and after the effect
- This doesn’t happen in the spectator’s hands, but it’s so clean it hardly matters
- This can be performed anywhere, although I find it works best in close-up or parlor settings
Expect to find all sorts of uses for it springing to mind right away. This is powerful stuff!
You’ll receive the slim but bursting-with-potential, photo-illustrated volume, which contains all the details you need.
