THE EFFECT
The performer borrows a deck of cards (you know, the kind you find in every pub on a Tuesday night) and lets the spectator shuffle it to their heart's content. Then, with a flourish (or a wink, if you’re feeling cheeky), the performer makes a prediction by placing one card face up on the table — let’s say it’s the Five of Clubs, just for giggles.
Next, the deck goes back to the spectator, who’s now tasked with turning over the cards one by one, revealing their glorious faces. They can stop whenever they fancy and place one card face down next to the prediction (all without peeking, mind you).
Once they’ve made their choice, they can keep flipping cards to show there are no funny business (no duplicates here, folks!). When they finally turn over their chosen card, it’s revealed to be the perfect mate of the predicted card: the Five of Spades. Ta-da!
And just like that, the deck is handed back — totally normal, no funny business, and you can repeat this trick faster than you can say “abracadabra!”
