Picture this: you’ve got two charming little wooden boards in your hands—yes, they’re tiny, but they pack a punch! You invite a spectator to give them a good ol' examination. Meanwhile, another spectator nonchalantly picks a card from a deck, while your trusty assistant gives it a shuffle (so far, so good, right?). Now comes the fun bit. You plonk a small candleholder with a candle right in the middle of the table and ask a spectator to light it with a match (no fire safety violations here, we promise). Next, you stack one slate on top of the other, tie them up with a rather lovely ribbon, and place a piece of chalk on top. The slates are then positioned next to the candleholder, looking all mysterious and whatnot. As the spectator casually mentions their card near the flickering flame (it’s practically a ritual, if you will), you deftly untie the ribbon, revealing that the name of the card has magically appeared in chalk on one of the slates. Oh, and did we mention? The slates are thoroughly examined by the spectator!!
