Here’s the deal: Tommy Wonder is a true legend in the world of close-up magic, with a career spanning over four decades. He’s the brains behind countless celebrated effects, many of which you’ll find in his iconic collection, The Books of Wonder, complete with diagrams and prop details (because who doesn’t love a good diagram?).
One of his most famous tricks, The Two-Cup Routine, first saw the light of day in 1977 (thanks, Original Magic from Holland), was revisited in 1983 (hello, Tommy Wonder Entertains), and made its grand finale in The Books of Wonder in 1996. This routine has been polished over 20 years and is now a staple in the Cups and Balls history books. It’s got a poetic vibe, jaw-dropping technique, and misdirection that’ll make your audience question reality.
Chances are you’ve only seen this performed by Tommy himself (and if you haven’t, where have you been?). One major reason is that finding a top-notch set of cups and bag is like hunting for unicorns.
Enter Bluether Magic! With the blessing of The Tommy Wonder Estate, they’ve crafted an exact replica of the props Tommy used for The Two-Cup Routine. They’ve put in the effort to ensure these props are spot-on, just like Tommy would’ve wanted.
"This is an impressive set. The cups are petite enough to be used anywhere, yet have a very pleasurable and solid weight in the hands. They are well balanced to allow any move you can think of. These cups will last for more than one lifetime."

WHAT YOU RECEIVE:
2 HIGH QUALITY BRASS CUPS:
- Diameter of the bottom of the cup: 40mm (margin of error ± 0.8mm)
- Diameter of cup mouth: 65mm (margin of error ± 0.9mm)
- Height: 80mm (margin of error ± 0.7 mm)
- Weight: 140g (margin of error ± 5g)
- Crochet balls in the bright orange thread described by Tommy Wonder and shown in the routine.
- The specially knitted carrying bag made from a blue sock-type yarn, fabricated so that it will stretch to fit the cups as well as compress to fit in the cups for the final load.
- The large blue pom-pom is made to The Books of Wonder's exact specifications with a precision-made clasp used to attach the pom-pom to the bag, allowing for the quick release required by the routine.
- Bluether Magic has been granted the rights to produce the props but haven’t got the green light for the routine or an alternative. However, they’ve secured permission to use footage from Tommy Wonder’s original lectures in 1985 Illinois and 1989 Japan, where he demonstrates the routine and talks about the moves and psychology behind them. Combine that with The Books of Wonder, and you’re all set to wow your audience with the amazing Two-Cup Routine.
What are the NEW FEATURES and UPGRADES of 2.0 version?
CNC CUPS:
- The cups are now produced using a CNC process (no, not that type of CNC). This means a computer-controlled metal removal system crafts these beauties, resulting in identical cups without those pesky ridges inside. Smooth sailing, folks.
- We’ve gone all out and made the inside of the cups non-reflective matt black. Not only does this solve the reflection issue, but it also gives the cups a rather dapper appearance.
