Basic Effect:

The magic kicks off with a sealed envelope handed to a spectator, who’s told to imagine a random image. Then, a banded and bagged deck of tarot cards is tossed to a lucky audience member. They peek at one card and remember it—this happens two more times, so three random folks are standing there, each with a card in their heads. You then reveal each thought-of tarot card as they sit down in disbelief. Oh, and just to up the ante, you’ll show that you predicted all this beforehand, with a note in the envelope from the very start! To top it off, everyone in the audience ends up thinking of the same shape revealed in your prediction. Mind blown.

Routine:

The routine kicks off with the magician handing out a sealed envelope, promising to get back to it later, whilst asking the audience to clear their minds for a little experiment. Everyone’s to think of a random image. A deck of tarot cards is introduced, and a brief history is given, leading to the magician requiring assistance from three audience members to "choose a card"—but not in the usual way. They’ll be selected at random by the audience, and the cards won’t be picked by the spectators; the cards will choose them. Wrapped in a rubber band, the tarot cards are popped into a small white cotton bag, and with the magician’s back turned, the bag is tossed into the audience to find the first participant.

The first person to catch the bag stands, removes the tarot cards, peeks at one, pops it back, and tosses the bag to the next participant. This continues until three spectators are standing there, each thinking of a card, whilst the entire audience is pondering their shape.

One by one, the magician reveals the three thought-of tarot cards, with each spectator sitting down in a state of shock, reinforcing the magician's psychic prowess and escalating the reactions. And just when the energy peaks, the magician unveils that it was all predicted inside that sealed envelope from the beginning—before the cards were even introduced! Not only that, but the geometric shape connects all three revelations and is the same shape everyone in the audience is thinking of, leading to an undeniable reaction at the climax.

No matter how you present it, the Tossed Out Tarot delivers an unexplainable display of mentalism that flirts with true psychic phenomena.
