Introducing Ultra-Mental Plus by Mark Strivings, with a nod to the brilliance of Joe Berg

Finally! An 'Invisible Deck' effect that actually looks like a regular deck of cards!

Anything you can do with the classic 'Invisible Deck' can be achieved with Ultra-Mental Plus, and just as simply.

So, if you're already doing the Invisible Deck and fancy it looking like a standard shuffled deck, now you can!

AND! I've thrown in a killer effect in this manuscript.

I’ve dubbed it "Ultra Ultra Mental"

Let me give you a little taste, but keep those underlined points in mind as you read on...

A deck of cards is introduced, plucked from its box, and left face up on the table. The deck is in full view (NOT in the box) and on the table the entire time. A regular die is also introduced.

“We’re going to play a game of choice and chance,” says the performer, before inviting their helper to name any card in the deck. This is a 100% free choice, even including the card face up on the deck as it rests on the table.

“That’s your choice. Here’s the chance.” The performer hands the die to their helper, who rolls it a couple of times to prove it’s a regular die. Finally, it’s rolled one last time. Let’s say the helper picks the Eight of Clubs as their card, and rolls a three on the die. Both the card and the number could be ANY card and ANY number on the die.

“You’ve chosen the eight of clubs, and you rolled a three. This is where chance comes into play. Do you want to go UP three values to the Jack of Clubs, or DOWN to the Five of Clubs?”

Let’s say they choose to go down to a Five.

“Is there ANY way you could have possibly known you’d end up on the Five of Clubs? ANY way I could have known? Would you agree this is a genuinely random selection?”

Anyone would have to agree this is, indeed, the case.

With absolutely no change to the orientation of the deck – in other words, the card that was on top when the deck was placed on the table is still on top when you spread the cards, the deck is NEVER turned in any way – the deck is spread, and one card is reversed in the middle. It’s the Five of Clubs. The deck appears to be a standard, shuffled deck otherwise.

This effect is a killer and leaves no clues. Plus, it’s about as easy as it gets.

Remember, just like the classic Invisible Deck, 'Ultra-Mental Plus' has -

ZERO sleight of hand

ZERO complicated calculations. In fact, this is even easier than the original Ultra-Mental Deck in many respects.

ANYTHING you can do with the classic Invisible Deck, you can do with Ultra-Mental Plus, and just as effortlessly.

AND these decks use a special configuration for the roughing, making both spreading the deck in pairs AND separating the right pair when it’s time incredibly easy and foolproof.

These decks are prepped with a roughing stick, so if your deck starts to wear down, you can easily refresh it using a roughing stick (which is readily obtainable from your favourite dealer).
