He borrows a phone from the audience and switches on the audio instructions. The tape suggests he requires a silk and a magic wand. Naturally, he can’t find the wand; instead, he digs out a hammer, which he decides must be some avant-garde magic tool (because clearly, that’s a thing).
As he follows the instructions, the voice tells him to tap the phone to make it disappear. Spoiler: it doesn’t vanish. So, he taps harder and harder—cue the nervous laughter from the spectator, who’s convinced his phone’s just met its doom.
When the tape insists he must now use the hammer, our magician realises he might have missed the mark. But wait, he finally discovers a minuscule magic wand in his briefcase. A few taps with the silk, and voilà—the phone disappears!
As he awaits the next part of the audio, it turns out he’s only got a free sample of the illusion (classic!) and must purchase Volume 2 to bring the phone back. Now, to calm the understandably anxious spectator, he hands over a Pringles can to open, filled with crisps (because who wouldn’t feel better with snacks?).
After munching on a few crisps, the spectator is asked to check inside the can. To his astonishment, he finds his phone snugly packed in a plastic bag! A round of applause, please!
