History was made September 2-6, 1982, in a nondescript filming studio in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, when Dai Vernon’s magic and life were captured for future generations. This gem of a project, inspired by the great Bill Larsen, was brought to life by Videonics, under the watchful eye of Hans Zahn. Co-hosting this magical extravaganza were none other than Michael Ammar, Gary Ouellet, and Steve Freeman.

L & L Publishing has taken this original footage, given it a digital facelift, and now it's available in 8 downloadable volumes. This isn't just a chance to hear the Professor wax poetic about magic; it's a chance for your great-grandkids to get schooled by the ultimate master.

What can you expect? Here are the highlights:

  • Think of it as an intimate jam session where Vernon dissects his tricks, moves, and routines while holding court like the legend he is.
  • Every move, technique, and routine is not just talked about—it’s demonstrated by Vernon himself or one of his co-hosts, complete with solid explanations.
  • Roughly half of what you’ll see is from the published record; the other half is fresh meat—never before disclosed at the time of filming.
  • Count on Vernon revealing important new techniques for his classics, including upgrades and those sneaky handlings of the famous Stars of Magic effects.
  • Some world-famous routines that you just can’t miss, like the Coins in Champagne Glass or the Fred Kaps Coins and Silk (yep, that's a Vernon original taught to Kaps), are finally out in the open.
  • Prepare for some serious deep dives into the Erdnase techniques—Vernon has spent a lifetime studying this stuff, and you’ll get the goods.

The whole point of these videos? To catch Vernon live and allow future magicians to bask in his brilliance.

If you consider yourself a magician, you’ve got to check these out. Dai Vernon was the Dean of modern magic, and he spills a ton of invaluable wisdom in these tapes.
