History was made from September 2-6, 1982, when a bunch of magic nerds gathered in a filming studio in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, to capture the life and magic of Dai Vernon for all eternity (no pressure, right?). Inspired by Bill Larsen, this project was kicked off by Videonics, run by the ever-enthusiastic Hans Zahn. Joining the magic party were co-hosts Michael Ammar, Gary Ouellet, and Steve Freeman, who must have thought they’d struck gold.
L & L Publishing has taken this original footage, given it a digital facelift, and now it’s available in 8 snazzy downloads. Not only will you see and hear the Professor strut his stuff, but future generations will also get schooled in the fine art of magic by the one and only master himself.

* The format is like a jam session where Vernon chats about his tricks, moves, and routines while holding court like the magic royalty he is. * Every move, technique, and routine is either performed by Vernon or one of the co-hosts, with a complete breakdown—no secrets left behind! * Roughly half the material is from the published record; the other half is fresh off the press (or camera, rather) and was revealed for the first time during this filming. * Vernon often teaches nifty new techniques on his classics, including improvements or never-before-seen handlings, even on those legendary Stars of Magic effects. * Prepare to be dazzled by world-famous routines like the Coins in Champagne Glass and the Fred Kaps Coins and Silk (which Vernon invented and then graciously passed on to Kaps). * Expect some important insights into the Erdnase techniques, a topic Vernon has scrutinised for a lifetime.
