So, here’s the lowdown on WINNING NUMBERS (Pro-Series Vol. 1) — it’s a stand-up mentalism routine by the ever-brilliant Paul Romhany. Now, if you’ve ever fancied predicting raffle ticket numbers plucked from the audience (and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?), you might recall the old-school method from 13 Steps to Mentalism that required a sneaky offstage assistant. But fear not! Paul’s been fine-tuning his own take on this dazzling effect for over two decades — and guess what? No assistants required!

This solo routine is a breeze to perform, and as with all of Paul’s magic, it’s been road-tested in real-world gigs. The method is so practical you could slot it into your act faster than you can say “abracadabra.”

Paul walks you through THREE different versions he’s been dazzling audiences with on cruise ships, at private functions, and trade shows. Plus, you’ll get some golden nuggets of wisdom from Wayne Rogers and TC Tahoe, who’ve both woven Winning Numbers into their own shows.

Effect One: A prediction is handed to an audience member at the start (because who doesn’t love a little suspense?). During the performance, a bowl containing two hundred tickets is passed around, and three lucky spectators each grab a ticket. When the prediction is revealed, it’s a match! (Cue the applause.)

Effect Two: This time, a prediction with three raffle tickets is given to an audience member to hold onto (it’s like their very own magic trophy). A bowl of tickets is distributed, and three different audience members each pick one. Surprise, surprise! The prediction matches the numbers on their tickets.

Effect Three: A large envelope sits on stage, tantalising the audience. A bowl of raffle tickets is passed around, with five folks each selecting one. When the envelope is opened by an audience member, a big piece of paper is revealed — and lo and behold, the numbers match the tickets chosen by the five spectators. It’s like magic, but without the rabbit!
