When a magician like Greg Gleason decides to share part of their secret stash with the magic world, you know it’s something worth having, and WORLD TRAVELER is no exception. Drawing inspiration from Dan Harlan’s iconic effect, CARDTOON, Greg’s latest card routine is sure to slot nicely into your close-up and strolling sets (and let’s be honest, it’s a right cracker!).
It kicks off with the magician pulling out a quirky pack of cards, flashing it to the audience member, and revealing that each card features a delightful image of the earth, a plane, and a cheeky destination.
“I’m always off gallivanting for work,” the magician quips, “so I had this deck made to help me decide my next holiday. Do you get around much? No? If you could pick anywhere in the world to escape to, where’s your fancy?” Let’s say our participant shouts out Japan.
“Japan, eh? Brilliant choice! You could’ve gone for any of these stunning spots—Vietnam, Chile, Denmark, you name it—but you chose Japan. Watch this!”
The magician gives the deck a cheeky riffle, and the participant watches as the plane zips around the globe before revealing one name in its fluffy trail: JAPAN.
Any of the 50 destinations can be chosen, and the little sleight-of-hand involved in performing WORLD TRAVELER is well within the grasp of even the most clumsy of fingers.
