If you were to ask card magicians what they reckon are the most jaw-dropping effects in card magic, Dai Vernon’s Triumph would likely make the cut. Sure, the idea of cards mingling face-up and face-down before magically sorting themselves out whilst revealing a chosen card wasn’t groundbreaking back in the day, but Vernon's elegant twist on the method? Absolute genius. First making its grand debut in 1946 as part of the Stars of Magic series, Triumph took the magic world by storm, and ever since, magicians have been adding their own flavours to this timeless classic.

In this DVD, you’ll be introduced to five performers who’ve each put their unique spin on the Triumph effect. Daryl kicks things off with a fab version using a nifty Tenkai method. Next up is Gary Ouellet, who presents a brilliant in-the-hands rendition that doesn’t even require a table (talk about living on the edge!). Then we have Henry Evans, who pulls off a stunner where, despite the spectator giving the deck a good shuffle, the cards not only sort themselves out but do so in perfect numerical order. Martin Nash, the "Charming Cheat," adds his own flair with some slick adjustments to Vernon's handling, including a masterclass on the Zarrow Shuffle. And just when you thought that was it, Bill Malone swoops in with not one but two cracking versions of this spectacular effect.

Triumph is a firm favourite among card magicians because let’s face it, audiences go absolutely bonkers for it. Watching those mixed-up cards magically righting themselves is a sight to behold, and the fact that their selected card makes an appearance feels like a delightful bonus. In short, it’s a card trick that genuinely looks like magic, and on this video, you’ll learn from some of the finest card magicians around, showing you how to perform possibly the greatest card trick ever conceived.
