For over 25 years, Ed Ellis has been charming audiences with his close-up magic, sleight of hand illusions, and full-time table-side antics for the who’s who of Hollywood, TV, and sports. Oh, and did we mention he’s also an award-winning drummer who once jammed with The Buddy Rich Band? Yeah, no big deal.
Ed’s taken his mesmerizing magic to the glitzy stages of Las Vegas’s Caesar's Palace, shared his wisdom at the legendary Magic Castle in Hollywood, and even starred in the Ed Ellis TV Show back in 2005. Talk about a resume!
1. You Ring? - Here’s the deal: a ring gets borrowed, and you take a rubber band, holding it at your fingers like a pro. You thread the band through the center of the ring, and then, using your left hand, you place a second rubber band behind the first. The spectator is left gripping the ring as the bands magically penetrate through the ring and each other. They’re holding the ring, and you’re still casually holding those rubber bands. Mind blown? You bet.
2. Rubber Band Through Thumb (Ellis Version) - While the standard version is usually a quick flick, this one takes a leisurely stroll through magic. You’ll slow it down and let the spectator hold the rubber band, making it a delightful little miracle that packs a punch.
3. Rubber Band Through Ring (Ellis Version) - This one’s all about the visuals. The spectator holds the ring while you perform the penetration, and trust us, it’s just as fun as it sounds. Another delightful little miracle that’ll have your audience wondering what just happened.
4. Say Vanish! - Here’s where things get spicy. Four cards are selected (and signed, if you want to get fancy) and shuffled back into the deck. Meanwhile, the four aces are chilling on the table, and you pop them into an empty card box for a spectator to hold. You wrap a rubber band around the deck and when the spectator shouts “vanish,” the rubber band disappears! You show your hands and the deck front and back, all clear. But wait! In a flash, the rubber band reappears, now capturing the four aces, while the box in the spectator's hands contains their chosen cards! Plot twist? Absolutely.
