For over 25 years, Ed Ellis has been dazzling audiences with his close-up magic, sleight of hand wizardry, and table-side shenanigans for the likes of Hollywood stars, TV personalities, and sports legends. Oh, and did we mention he’s an award-winning drummer who’s shared the stage with The Buddy Rich Band? (Now that's some serious cred!)
Ed has taken his mind-boggling close-up illusions to Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, graced the hallowed halls of the Magic Castle in Hollywood as a lecturer, and in 2005, he became the star of the Ed Ellis TV Show. Not too shabby, eh?
1. You Ring? - A borrowed ring, a rubber band held at your fingertips, and a whole lot of magic. Slide the ring through the rubber band, toss a second band behind it (no, not your gym band), and let the spectator hold the ring. Then, like magic (because it is), the bands penetrate through the ring and each other, leaving the spectator holding the ring while you casually maintain your grip on the rubber bands. Easy peasy, right?
2. Rubber Band Through Thumb (Ellis Version) - Sure, you could do this in a blink, but why not slow it down for maximum visual impact? Your spectator holds the rubber band while you execute this delightful miracle in glorious slow-motion. It’s a fun little moment that’ll have them scratching their heads.
3. Rubber Band Through Ring (Ellis Version) - Just like the thumb version but better! The spectator holds the ring while you make the rubber band penetrate through it. Simple, visual, and utterly baffling. Who doesn’t love a good surprise?
4. Say Vanish! - Four cards are selected (you can even let them sign them if you’re feeling generous) and mixed into the deck. The twist? Four aces are chilling on the table, and you pop them into an empty card box for a spectator to hold. Wrap a rubber band around the deck, and when they say “vanish,” poof! The rubber band is gone. But wait—when you reveal the box, it’s their selected cards inside, not the aces you just captured! Sneaky, isn’t it?
