Are You Sure? – when choice is just a cheeky trick of the mind
Are You Sure? is a clever little gem from the brains of Damien Vappereau & Marc Céliandre. Right from the off, a card is placed firmly in the spectator's hand. It stays put. It doesn’t change. And yet... everything revolves around this very card.
On this card: numbers, choices, and all sorts of possibilities. The magician invites the spectator to think of a number between 1 and 4.
Are You Sure?
With all the confidence in the world, the spectator calls out a number, absolutely convinced they’re in control. The magician then reveals the corresponding card... and lo and behold: it’s an exact match to the one they've been holding since the very beginning. Fancy that!
Freedom vs. Illusion
Coincidence? A touch of premonition? Or a bit of sly manipulation? With Are You Sure?, the spectator soon realises their so-called choice might have been just a mirage.
